Calls during Ohio gun Season

Are calls still effective during Ohio gun season? I will be hunting in Southeast Ohio.

I myself have not had them work during the gun season due to the amount of hunters that are out in the woods. Ifyou have a very large piece of land they might work for you. The deer that we harvest during the first couple days of the gun season are running for freedom from all of the people doing drives and walking around. You can try it its not going to hurt anything. Last year the rutting activity seemed to stop about two days before the gun season started but who knows with this year the way the weather has been. I will be out trying to harvest a couple of does since my buck tag was filled Nov. 7th. Good luck.

I will actually be hunting 128 acres that is surrounded by national forest.

A doe bleat is what I would try .

A buck grunt can scare away sub bucks
