RE: Indiana Whitetails
I'm not familiar with Daviess Co. , but the overall deer hunting is good to very good here . Generally speaking , the Southern and Northern tiers have the most deer per square mile , particularly the areas nearest to the Ohio River . If you like to take does for the freezer many of the Southeastern counties and some Northern ones have been designated as reduction counties beginning ths year , with antlerless bag limits of up to eight deer . In areas such as the various stretches of the Hoosier Natl. Forest you can find some impressive bucks if you're willing to go more than 500 yards from your truck . One area of that forest where I hunted last year was so underutilized that my car was literally the only vehicle in the parking lot and I saw few signs of human traffic after I got 100 yards into the trees . Our non-resident fees are also much lower than Illinois and some of the surrounding states .
