Whoops, carpsniper on Christine's login...

About time! LOL Welcome back. Have you heard from Grant? When are you going to put on another Hennepin shoot?

I know, I know, Questions questions.

The best info I can give you is to put in and run along the shallows at about 4 to 6 mph or about 2100 rpms on your motor. zig zag a bit until you find them. If you have a choice, aluminum boats seem to work better than fiberglass.

I have heard from grant. he is getting ready to re-deploy to afghanistan. he is doing well all around. dont get to see him much, but when he is back in town, we all have a good time. as far as another canal shoot, i would love to try to put something together. maybe next year when overtime and family settle down some.

I have shot more than my share of carp and gar around here but have never gone after bigheads or silvers. any way to shoot silvers besides out of the air? would peru be better than peoria for a mixed bag? thanks for the warm (re)welcome. promise not to dissapear again

Cool, if you see him before he deploys, tell him to stay safe. I have never heard of anyone doing real well on bigheads on the IL river. They are there, but tough to see in the murky water. Look in the slack water right off the current.
As for the silvers, they seem to be everywhere. So I would go to the closest ramp. Peru is good and easy to get to for you.

Hey Ryan! Good to see you here.

I'd go to a Rice Lake (or some other river backwater lake) before I tried to find shootable bigheads on the Illinois River. The bigheads are in there, it's just too muddy to see them in any real numbers.

For the silvers, I'd go to Chillicothe, but that's a longer drive for you.
