Default Two Rivers Family Fishing Fair this weekend

This Saturday June 12th. 10am to 4pm.

Pere Marquette State Park near Grafton Illinois.

Pictures from last year: http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/illi...air-fotos.html

Hope to see some of you there. We could still use a couple more volunteers for the Kid's shooting ranges!

The river will be up (as usual) but we'll still try the backwaters for some bowfishing afterwards.

And don't forget the fish fry afterward. They may even play a few friendly games of "corn hole" (bag toss).

Wish I could be there, but have to work on Saturday. When down there, check out the Hawg Pit BBQ >>>======> good stuff. Also if time allows, take the free ferry and check out the old restaurant on the other side, something like, The Whitman house, probably 100 years old and family style all you can eat. Check out their fresh sausages and so much food, you can't come away hungry. Now I really wish I could get down there

Karter, the Mississippi is down? I'm pretty sure the Illinois is supposed to come up this weekend.

Maybe we'll go to the Alton Dam if the big river isn't flooding. Do you know if anybody has had any luck there?

Rob, the USF&W and IDNR guys usually have quite a cookout. Gary Allen used to do a killer fish fry too. I'll keep your recommendations in mind tho'.

Yes, down, actually down a LOT at the Alton locks. They have been draining it down to mud by the locks, very low. Kyle and I went to the areas by the fishing fair last weekend, so we would be able to give you some fish info. Almost didnt take the bows out, no fish, water is dropping so much.

As the graph shows, low, bit of recent rain has got it not dropping as much, but still low. If we hear anything, we will post, to try and get you guys in some fish.

Thanks Karter.

Depending on weather and how pooped we are, we may just hit the backwater lakes across the street... but I won't rule out going over to the Alton Dam. (above it)

Well it's in the books now...
The estimate we heard Saturday evening was 1700 kids registered.

I don't know what the temperature got up to. But it was more than warm.
A huge thank you to all the brave souls who came and lent a hand - Gretchen, Adam, Liz, Phil, John, Ryan, Jeff, Scott and I think "Don" the local NWTF chapter President. (If it's not Don and you're on here please correct me)

I think it speaks volumes to the popularity of bowfishing that during such a hot day we had a big waiting line all morning and some line almost all afternoon. I looked at the other booths (that I could see from ours) and none of them had waiting lines. I also couldn't help overhearing kids begging to try the bowfishing booth and their parents telling them quite plainly, "We are NOT waiting in THAT line!"
I can't say I blamed them at all.

Christine used the boat's fan to cool the line down a bit. That made her pretty popular.
