Default Best point?

Hey folks, I lost my first arrow of the year and think I need to order half dozen more. Who has best prices and which point do you all like for all around fishing? Big heads, silvers, gar ect...

A lot of us like the Predator sure shot. You do not have to get to the point to reverse the barbs. Unlike the muzzy where you have to hold the tip to turn the barbs.

had a friend suggest the sure shot. does it really matter between the standard and the predator? The cajun points also interest me. I don't want anything too expensive as I shoot into alot a wood and debris and lose arrows each spring

The penetrators have a replaceable tip. The regular shureshot points don't. By all means get the ones with the replaceable tips.

Also, I recommend wrapping a bit of teflon tape on the threads of the penetrator tips. There's a little how-to article on our home page http://www.illinoisbowfishers.com/ titled 'Teflon Fish Point Tip'.

Personally, I use Shure Shots, a couple different styles of Cajun points, standard Muzzy points, Innerlock grapple points and Pro-points and a couple others.
Just depends on what kind of fish I'm targeting.

The Muzzy, Cajun Piranha and Shure Shot are my 'all-around' points and I think they all work equally well.

For soft fish that arrows tend to pull out of (big buffs, grass carp) I like the points that have more barb... such as the Innerlocs or Cajun tournament tip. These are a pain to pull out of weeds and roots tho'. Muzzy has a new four pronged tip that I'll try this year. I have friends that swear by the Gene Davis and Cajun Lil stinger 4 barb fish points for soft fish. I'll have to try those this year too.

There are a lot of choices.

Well lets confuse the poor guy. Just tell him Penetrator Shure Shot Points are the best. LOL
Also you can use bow string wax on the tip threads to keep em from loosening

We could start discussing fiberglass, carbon arrows, carbon/fiberglass arrows, aluminum clad fiberglass.......... and really, really confuse him.

I even have glow-in-the-dark arrows!

Are penetrator tips really necessary?

They're not needed. I like to have the tips replaceable because I shoot a lot of rocks.
