Just started bowfishing in May and I was wondering do most of you bowfish thru the winter? If not when does it slow down? If so could I get some tips? thanks.
We have pretty much found out the later in the year the water gets a lot clearer and the fish move up into shallow water. Pretty much if you can find ice clear water the fish will be there.
Like JB said, the water starts getting better from Sept on as weeds and algae die back. Usually there is less rain and that helps too.
We've had some great trips in Dec and Feb so Bowfishing can be (and is for many of us here) a year round sport.
We wait for sunny days and then go out and look for flats that will catch the sun and hold the heat, drawing the carp.
Good Luck.
usually in the spring when backwater comes up we find fish when water crosses the road..do you think they'll do the same?
