Blue sucker. On many state threatened species lists, and wouldn't likely be legal to bowshoot in midwestern states, although not sure if there are any midwestern states where they might be legal. Still pretty common in a few places (especially some places in Texas, where I think you were at??), but most places they are getting rare. Said to be the best eating of the suckers, and once there was a thriving commercial fishery for them in the Missouri River. They can be large. I can get them in drifted gill nets in the summer on the outside lower end of large sandbars in the Missouri River.
