The night shoot was held under clear skies and warm temperatures. The water level was extremely low, but the 18 teams set out at 7 P.M. for a night of shooting. The fog held off, but the low waters caused 5 teams to “retire early.” I didn’t get a fish count from those guys, but I know 3 of the teams had over 20 fish. By 8 o’clock, we had the 13 teams checked in for a total fish harvest of 382 fish. A 29 fish per team average is really good with the conditions. Taking first place was Team 17 consisting of Gary Brooks, Kent Zimpfer, and Brian Jones with 80 fish, winning them $180. The second place prize of $120 went to Team 15 of Andy Creighton, Josh Middleton, and Jacob Lehe with 54 fish. The $80 third place prize for their 47 fish went to Shane Weaver, Ben Stier, and Cody Hayden. The Big Fish of the tournament was a 20.2 German Carp shot by Shane Loveland, winning him the $170 side pot. It also won Loveland the $60 Big Common Carp Award. The Big Silver Carp Award of $60 went to Team 15 with their 13.11 lb. fish. The Big Grass Carp Award of $60 went to Team Brooks for their 17.1 lb. “whitey.” The Big Buffalo Award of $60 went to Jarett Houston for his 16.15 lb. Small Mouth Buffalo. Big Dogfish honors and $60 went to Team Stark for their 6.8 lb. fish. Dustin Houston won the $60 Big Gar Award for an 8.2 lb. long nose. The Average Joe Award of $40 went to Team 6 of Brandon Aldrige, Steve Schrader, and Anthony Urbanski with 35 fish, coming the closest to the 29 fish/team average. Everyone had a great time, and thanks to our sponsors: Muzzy Products, AMS, Cajun Archery, Old National Bank, ExtremeBowfishing.com, and J&M Outdoors for providing a prize to all of our shooters. Without these sponsors, bowfishing wouldn’t be what it is today; thanks again. It’s been another great year for the HBC, so I would like to thank everyone who competed, sponsored, helped out, and came to support bowfishing in north central Indiana. We have a couple of small shoots left this year, but if I don’t see you there, I’ll see you on June 19, 2010 for some “Blood, Guts, and Carp Eggs!”
I broke my camera, so no pics of the shoot
