Default GLBC - Saginaw Bay Bowfishing?

Anybody here thinking about going to the Great Lakes Bowfishing Championship up on Saginaw Bay May 30-31st?Out of Caseville, Michigan.

6,142 lbs won first place last year. (two day tourney. 9 hours on day one, 6 hours on day two) Daytime shooting. 232 teams were there last year. 366 lbs was the average weight brought in.

Tournament info, clickhere (pdf) <---- pretty cool to read.

A bit of a drive but I've heard it's a lot of fun.

(looks like a good test for the hauling capacity of your boat Mark)

If over 6000 pounds was first place, and the average per boat was 366 pounds, then somebody got SMOKED!!! Or the first place team just rocked and kicked butt. I'm thinking both.

Good thing you're getting that 115 running Mark. We'd have to make a few trips back to unload to get in the top 3.

Seriously, that sounds like a shoot everyone who's serious about tournament bowfishing should hit. And even if you're not that serious, it sounds like a good thing to witness. I can only imagine what the weigh-in must be like. I know first-hand there's some absolute hogs in the Great Lakes.

i am planning on it. most teams are wading teams. a lot come to the shoot just for the fun and party and shoot very few. that is why there is such a diffrence in the weights. i have talked to quite a few diffrent teams that shoot up there and they all told me that the only thing limiting how many fish you shoot ishow many you can haul. everybody says it is the most awesome shoot they have ever shot. i was told airboats have a huge advantge if the wind/tide is wrong but if it is right you can shoot just as many wading as a boat. water is unreal clear.

Please, PLEASE come up and shoot some of those crap fish. My family owns a place on the shore about 10 miles south of Caseville, I watched guys from this tournament shoot all the time when I was a kid. The whole coast is thick with carp, I used to shoot them off the seawall as fast as I could reel them in and get another arrow nocked. The whole area is useless for real fishing for a month due to the carp.

I believethe CIRFCUpontoon boat is rated to carry 6,000 lbs. (have to stack those fish very, verycarefully) I'm not sure the CIRFCU shooters are rated for 6K tho'. [:-]

Spaniel, I hope we can come up there and take out a few carp for you.

Well, it's not CG rated for 6K but according to the manufacturer, it should support 6,000 pounds and draft 15". It's never been close to that (yet).

It would be interesting to find out just how much that float boat will hold.
