On the plus side there is a warming trend after Christmas all the way to New Years. Suppose to be 43 for a high and 43 for a low New Years Eve. Check it out

Bowfisher5 I like the way you think: we should have a contest for the last fish of the year and the first fish of the year! Probably can be achieved in the same evening if the weather is good.

Took a quick drive around Clinton Lake at 4 p.m. till dark 12-22-08. Several guys hunting geese (and there where alot of them flying) in the corn fields around the lake. Probably saw at least 200 deer in and around Mascoutin State Park. The water is open at Clinton but there was a lot of ice junks at the boat ramp.The ramp was ice packed as was the whole parking lot.One would have to be careful backing down the ramp so you would not slide in with the boatand trailer. [

]Now getting the boat back on the trailer and pullingup the rampcould be a real hair raising experience. A bag of oil dry or a tube of sand could save your azz. Now the good news is that it should be all gone by Dec 31.Northfork is frozen but doesn't look thick enoughto walk on.Now who is going out Dec 31 to collect those bragging rights of the last fish of the year and the first fish of 2009? Who was bringing the hot chocolate??

Weather.com has the low on Dec. 31st as 19 degrees. [:-]

High of 57 this Saturday... but rainy.
