Default Hunting and Fishing Days, Yorkville IL

This past weekend, my daughter and I spent the day playing around over at Silver Springs State Park at the Hunting and Fishing Days show. We had a great time. Now that she's almost 6, we got to do a lot more fun stuff than ever before.

She tried her hand at a cast-into-the-bucket contest, and won a new fishing pole !

Then she got to sit on a motorcycle....

....and then we were off to the kid's fishing pond. I think she was the only one to catch one while we were fishing. (She used one of her Grandad's favorite secrets).

And, of course she got to shoot stuff.
BB guns at plinking targets, and bows at foam deer and fish.

Her favorite activity of the day was the new rock climbing wall.
The kid is a natural. We climbed it 3 times (well, I only did it 2 times, so I could get some more pics)

That little sucker got within an arm's reach of the top on her third attempt.
That's 30 feet up ! Daddy was quite impressed.

What a great Daddy/Daughter day. Admission to the show is free, so for all of you who missed it this year, especially those of you with kids, consider going next September. It's usually the weekend before archery/deer season opens.

I was suprised to see you and Ed hangin out together. By-gones, eh? That's him in the bowfishing pic with Jesse, right? Good to see you guys make amends.

You can't have too many bows.

Yeah, that was Ed.
I don't have reason to be afraid of the man, and the kiddo wanted to shoot some submerged nerf-fish. Who was I to say she couldn't go bowfishing? After all, it's one of my favorite things, and I hope she likes it well enough that we can do it together until I'm too old to pull a bowstring.

My memory works just fine, but I did not feel there was anything to worry about. Just a nice sunny day sharing lots of my favorite stuff with my favorite munchkin.

Way to go Chris! What a great way to make memories with your kiddo.

She sure looks happy with that new fishing pole. And I know Grandpa will be thrilled to hear how she caught her fish using his secret.

I bet she didn't have much trouble getting to sleep that night. I know I wouldn't after draggin' my carcass up that wall a couple of times.

Kudos to all who volunteered their time to let folks experience all their passions.
