Well if you missed it, you missed a good time if watching newbies being bit by the bowfishing bug.

A big thanks to all who came to help. We couldn't do it with out you.

I was most amused by the fact that it was time for our "class" to be over and to return for lunch. I asked if they wanted to head back or keep fishing. They (on my boat) all said "Keep fishing".
We met up with Steve's crew on Uncle Daves boat and they had seen gar in one cove so we headed there along with Curt's boat and Steve followed a little later. After a few more shots, I had one lady who was getting hungry and wanted to go back. The one standing closest to me whispered "go slow!" We were the first boat back, nearly a half hour later than scheduled. When the rest returned, the story was the same across the board.

Yeah, Like Opel say's, Post some 8 X 10 color glossies of the gals! How many took the class? Did any of the gals shoot any of those monsters out of Lake Springfield? Oh yeah, is my boat in one piece?

That was as much fun as any of the bigger events we've been at, and more fun than some. It was the most rewarding event I've participated in this year. Those ladies had a blast. Julie on our boat hit 2 fish, with the arrow bouncing off one and losing the other at boat-side. But she hit them! She did great. Jamie, on Kendall's brother John's boat got one in the boat. And NONE of the girls wanted to come back in for lunch. We were almost 45 minutes late for lunch (all 4 boats).

We had the biggest class out of the whole program with 8 women joining in.One of the ladies (Julie)signed up 6 months ago. And there were more than a few of them who wanted to come to some of our shoots in the future. We made sure to give out all our club info and told the folks in charge to keep us in mind next year, or for any other programs they might have come up.

All we shot were gar. The few carp we did see didn't give us a shot. And we only saw the gar concentrated in one spot. We found a few more here and there, but they were spread out pretty good. We were just glad to find a few fish to put the girls on. It would have sucked if they didn't even see any. We got lucky there.

Dave, your boat was awesome. I'm gonna have a hard time getting back on mine after that. What a difference it is between an 18' plate-boat and a 1448 jon-boat. And yes, it's in one piece. But the batteries are dead.

That was a really neat experience. A big thanks to Deb for starting off the class while we were changing a blown boat trailer tire on the side of the highway. [:-]

I only got these pictures while the women where trying to shoot the innerloc gar targets from the docks.

Curt pulling the gar back down after a successful hit. Those gar take some effort to submerge.

Aiming at a submerged gar target. The women got to experience the 'aim low' concept first hand.

Success!!

Look at the smiles from both the new bowfisher and her guide, John 'Speedy' Carrigan.

Thank you to our sponsors, AMS Bowfishing and Innerloc for helping us with the equipment for this event.

A big hug and thanks to Deb, Curt, John, Steve, Kendall and Dave for helping with the event!!
