Default First time bowfishing!

Well i went to gander mountian and i bought an ams bowfishing combo and put it on my buddies bow. We went down to the canal to try and find some carp but it was pretty cold, rainy and overcast so we didnt see any. luckily i brought my fishin pole and hooked up with a big 4 pound bass[8D]but anyhow, so far i've missed a few turtles, a pop can, and a muskrat got lucky today. where would you say the best place would be to look for the carp? We went to a few creeks and we never saw anything?

Bowfishing from the bank can be challenging at this time of year since the spawn is pretty much over. The weather definately affects the bowfishng. Conditions change rapidly: one day the fish will be splashing all over the place and the next day you won't see a thing. I'm not sure of the good places to shoot in Ohio.

I'd check the Ohio regulationson shooting muskrats; I know they are illegal to shoot in Illinois.

Nice bass - 4 lber is great fish.

i was working today so i couldnt go out but i saw them all over now that it's sunny...

and your right i'm glad i missed that muskrat, i dont know what i would have done if i hit it anyhow. it wouldnt be too happy i'd guess, and after he chewed on me neither would i.

I got stopped by a cop when i was bowfishing, is it legal to do everywhere? i was packing up for the day but he said it wasnt a good idea to do it around there... is there any special thing about where you can and can't bowfish?

Thomas, there are laws governing bowfishing just like laws for any other form of fishing or hunting.

Be sure to familiarize yourself with these laws before you head out again.
