Default I am a proud member of the spincast club

Well last night before i hit the water i went to GanderMountain and bought a muzzy real seat, a Synergy TI14 spincast reel, and some line. I took it out to the basin last night and whacked a few. It was a really slow night i only shot 6. I only have one question, what type of line do you shoot out of your spincast reels, cause with the line i have i can only shoot about 10-12 yards. Could i use some PowerPro line? I just want to be able to take a long shot if it is needed.

Sorry my batteries died and it cut off some of the picture. But i really like this spincast idea, makes it easier when fighting fish.

Bill, Most of use 200# Fast flight line. I think the power pro may tend to build up energy and can bounce back. But I Do not know that for a fact as i have never used it. Robow can fill you in better. Good luck welcome to the ranks.

200# here also. And I use a Ti-20. It holds a little more and the opening is a little bigger.

What is the average amount of line you can get on the spincast reels. Should i get a bigger reel and some fast flight line?

Bill, I use the power pro and really like it. It doesn't stretch and therefore doesn't build up energy.
Fast flight is the standard and will work well. I just like the fact that I can get 30 yards or more of power pro on a reel.

If you're gonna get another spincast reel, get a muzzy or a reel that's been Thumpertized by Jimmy Lambert.

Reels?
I've used the Shakespeare Synergy series so far. They work, are cheap, and sold everywhere. My Ti version has yet to break, so I haven't tried out the Zebco 808, Rhinos, or Muzzy's yet, but those seem to be the ones that the majority of shooters use.

How much line?
I'm happy as long as I can fit 20 yards plus some extra so in case I need to cut some off due to a stuck arrow I will still have enough for the longest typical shot I expect to take. It'suncommonfor me toshoot at anything beyond 30 feet. With that said, it is nice to have a bunch more on your reel when you happen to see that monster fish WAY out there that's just begging for a Hail-Mary/Lob-it-in-like-a-shotput shot.

Is the line hanging up in the reel when you shoot?Make sure the reel is as full of line as you can get it! It starts hanging up for me when the spool get's more empty. With it full I can shoot as far as the bow will fling it. I like the 200lb fast flight also.

Be careful with the power pro on Small Gar. I lost 3 arrows before I realized that the gar scales cut the power pro line! If you shoot all the way through, this could be a problem for you.

I switched back to fast flight and have never had my line cut. I consistantly spray my line and reels with pure silicone or teflon lubricant. The arrows fly perfectly.
