Default Needed: Tips or tricks to make for better bowfishing

Uncle Dave and I were brainstorming this past weekend and we came to the conclusion that it would be nice to have in our quarterly newsletter, a section that would describe small tricks or tips that make for better bowfishing or a better time on the water. If you wish you might want toinclude aphoto. I'm sure we've all learned to modify our equipment so that it is more durable or performs its task better so if you have some ideas let us know by way of PM and we'll do our best to get them in the newsletter. Examples may be like how you modify your arrow, fishpoint, bow, trolling motor, reel and the list of possibilites go on. Thanks againfor your help.

This could take a while...

"Remember to put in the boat's drain plug, and unstrap the boat from the trailer before putting in."

"Make sure you tighten your truck's brake caliper bolts before driving 300 miles to a tourney at the other end of the state so you don't end up stuck in Mattoon for 2 hours." Hey, it could happen.

Mark and I have a few ideas, but I think we may be better off just showing everyone when the boat's done. One of them is to bring an extra troller, ALWAYS, (it'll have a designated spot), and another involves a small microwave (since we have a genny{two in time}on board) and it's own compartment. Seriously. A couple boxes of Cup-o-Soup and some instant coffee (hot-chocolate for Mark) and we can fight off fatigue, staying sharp till the end.

Another is to keep sleeping bags in their own dry-storage spot and an anchor for when we need a nap on the lake during those long over-night shoots. Food, comfort, and..... well we haven't worked out shelter yet, but with all the storage-compartments he's gonna have, we could probably sqeeze into a couple of them during those familiar showers we seem to run into more often than not.

The best tip I could offer would be to keep a very-well-stocked tool-kit on board. And know how to use it. Everything from mechanical to electrical tools and replacement items.

Other than that, I just keep spare reels, strings (portable bow-press when I bring my compound), nocks, gloves, etc with me at all times. Even when I'm walking the bank or wading somewhere I have my tool-box in the van.

Email me the ideas or pm them to the officers.

Anything that anybody would like to share with the members in the newsletter would be appreciated. Stories, news, tips, pictures.... etc.

Thanks.

Or we could make a sticky at the top as many forums do for this kind of thing.??? Although you couldn't very well add photos easily in order to better illustrate your idea [:@]

How about the usual stuff about our past and future shoots /tourneys and then an edition dedicated to these type of things. Oh and maybe we can take up a collection for a torque wrench for Chris.

Oh, so THAT'S what it's for.
I thought it was a funny shaped hammer for pounding the rotors loose.

I think that putting tips in the newsletter is a good idea.
Sharing that kind of stuff was one of our main reasons for forming a club years ago. Sharing our sport and teaching others how to have more fun doing it is what we do.

We'll send suggestions by PM or email.
