Default Pheasant Hunting at Des Plaines Conservation Area

I have reservations the day after Christmas; anybody have any luck there? Any area better than the others?

Thanks,
Judd

Never did do the pheasant thing yet.

I'd join you this time, but I already had plans for that day.
Trying out a venison sausage recipe at a friend's house.
I'm bringing the meat and some brandy, and they've got everything else.

I hopeto hook up with you on a future bird hunt.

Pheasant hunting was a little tougher than I thought; even with a shotgun. Saw plenty of birds but failed to score. It was niceday for this time of year.

Looking forward tothe spring...

Yeah, you did get decent weather.

I can't wait to get out after deer again this Sat.
Should have fresh snow tomorrow.

They flushed too far away - I was shooting over 50 yards. The one bird thatflushed within 10 yards did so between me and my partner and then flew across the road.We thought it was prudent to let thatonefly away. Isaw one guy shoot three times atthe samebird - the last one being across the road. It was exciting.

Greg,

I was using a Remington Wingmaster 870 (12 gauge) with no. 6 shells. Still couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.
