Default Access to another private lake?

I met a guy yesterday that is the fisheries manager for a private lake and on the homeowner's association board there. It's a 40ish acre lake with a max depth of 10 feet in the N/W Chicago burbs. He's looking for carp killers to come help him out.

This should be an easy one to get in to. He's already heard of us, and had been wanting to makecontact. We may have to wait until spring, but it looks good.

I'll keep the officers posted on progress, and we'll set something up when we have things in place.

-Chris

Sounds good. Do they have good access (boat ramp)?

This sounds like the group we donated a pair of trips for their fund raiser.

This should be fun!

We only talked for about 5 minutes since he was working at the time, so I don't have all the specifics yet, but he is THE dude to talk to at that lake, and he was alreadylooking for us.

He also formally teaches fishing, but has a scheduling conflict and will be unable to be at the Trailblazers event on 10/6. He knows his stuff, from the way he talked about his management strategies.

I'll find out more when I call him over the weekend, and I'll send the officers an email with what I learn.

...and here I thought it was because of the ability (or insanity) that enables me to bowfish from the world's smallest boat. Still haven't fallen in yet either. I probably shouldn't have said anything. [:@]

My contact is on vacation for a week, so we'll chat more later, but I visited the lake yesterday after work and scouted out the entire area.
Several fishermen told me about where they see carp most around the lake, and how sick of them they are.It seems we will indeed be welcome.

The lake is a dammed up creek where the water level gets high enoughon the downside of thedam for jumpers to get upstream into the lake. THe downstream creek also has carp, I'm told, but I'm not sure about access to that yet.

The water definitely has some clarity issues, and I saw 3 dead carp on the shore (3-7 pounds), and one jumper further out that went about 15 or so. Lots of bubbles in the shallows showing bottom feeding in progress. The spring spawn could yield a pretty good catch, from the amount of activity I saw this late in the year.

They also have a boat launch for larger boats, so we can get more of our crewin there. Not sure about shore bowfishing yet since the whole perimeter of the lake is private property. We'll see. Properties are big with houses far from the water, so people might not mind so much if they areeducated by their guy as to the benefit we would provide, with negligible risk.
