Swain Farms outfitting is family owned and runs guided trophy whitetail hunts in the famed west central Illinois region. The Swains are lifelong residents of Morgan County, with the family farm being established well over 150 years ago. As we continue to farm, a passion for growing world class whitetails has pushed us in another direction. We are striving to build a true whitetail paradise, capable of producing mature deer for our clients year after year. Owning our own mortgage free family farms, as well as low lease prices on surrounding property, keeps us from pushing a high number of hunters through like most outfits. Although we run a fairly small operation, we have the resources to stay competitive with bigger outfitters by securing top end hunting properties. And as always, we refuse to ‘host’ or ‘cater too’ TV hunters. Instead we focus all of our attention towards our paying clients. We may miss out on some good advertisement by not hosting TV crews, but believe that if you run a camp the right way word of mouth will be sufficient.
We offer a wide variety of hunts for every budget. From hunting unpressured, early season bachelor group bucks, to the excitement of a classic Illinois rut hunt. With our extensive food plot programs, we offer excellent early and late season hunts at a very reasonable rate. Besides annually grown Illinois crops of soybeans, corn, and wheat, we also provide extra year round nutrition for our deer with a variety of seasonal food plots. Our food plots consist of clover, alfalfa, chicory, Eagle Seed forage beans and more. We also leave standing corn and beans for our late season hunts.
During the previous hunting season, we ran approximately one trail camera per forty acres of hunting ground. Trail camera technology has proven to be a great asset for us, by enabling us to predict more accurately big buck movements. We had multiple trail camera pictures of every buck harvested during the 2010 hunting season. As you can see in our gallery, our farms hold multiple world class deer. If you check out some of our competitors who operates on a similar amount of ground, you’ll definitely see a difference in the quality of our bucks. This has a lot too do with our management style and how we run our hunts. To go along with big deer, we have the experience and dedication to provide our guests with the hunt of a lifetime.
