Default Guided Texas Quail Hunting

It"™s not too late to plan for quail hunting in Texas. I am offering guided quail hunts in West Texas at very affordable prices. You will hunt over some of the finest bird dogs in America in some of the best country in Texas. I have access to a 10,000-acre ranch near Crowell that is managed for quail. This ranch is about 100 miles north of Abilene, 80 miles southwest of Wichita Falls, 30 miles east of Paducah and 200 miles west of Dallas. I also offer self-guided hunting on the ranch for $600. This would allow you hunt as oiften as you like during January and February.

Because of the 2005-06 drought, bobwhite quail numbers are significantly down everywhere in Texas this season. Nonetheless, there still are enough quail in this part of Texas to provide some very rewarding and enjoyable hunting. Hunters are reporting at least two coveys an hour on good private land in this area since a snowstorm two weeks ago improved the cover and conditions. While that"™s not impressive by last year"™s standards, the fact remains that it is the best hunting for bobwhite quail in America this year. You won"™t find any better anywhere else.

I also will be spending some time along the Rio Grande in far west Texas, and can take hunters out for a triple-header on three species of quail. Unlike most of Texas, this area had a bumper crop of quail this year. It is drought-proof, because of irrigation. This area is loaded with Texas"™ only population of Gambel quail, and also has a high population of blue quail. There also are some of the rare and elusive Montezuma (or Mearns) quail in the area.

For guided hunts, I am charging $200 per person per day, based on a party of three or four hunters. For less than three hunters, my minimum charge is $500 a day total.

My name is John Yates. I am a professional bird dog trainer with 35 years of experience working on wild birds all across America and in Canada. I also breed English setters. My email is jtyates@csonline.net, and my phone number is (814) 676-6260. My website is http://www.eaglerockkennel.com .
