Default bows

I have recently started bow hunting after years of rifles. Any suggestions on the best bow to use for a newby???

Possible the Bowhunting section or Archery classifieds is where you should put this.

i would say you would want a good bow to start off with. I would recomend the switchback or the trycon. The reason is if you just starting off you want the best to stay with the technology. Just like if you were going to by a computer. Its all up to you its how you shoot and what you like to shoot.

I disagree with bowhunter818. Get the bow that feels best to YOU. I've shot Trykons and Switchbacks and neither one felt good in my hand. Don't follow fad. You'll be the only one shooting YOUR bow. Get someone at a pro archery shop to help you try different bows. The main thing is draw length. You should shoot with a slight bend in your elbow. This reduces left/right movement and also reduces stress on your shoulder. Afterall, you don't shoot a gun with a straight arm, do you?

Anyway, hope this helped a little.

Monie, I agree i was saying that you dont want to start of with a crap bow, you need to start off with a little bit better of a bow and one that fits your needs. And the trykon and the switchback are supposed to be the best on te market. Didn't meen to step on any toes.

You didn't step on any toes. The reason the Switchback and Trykon are the "best" on the market is because their companies advertise out the yang. If you want technology, go to PSE. They're the ones who designed most of the stuff that's on the "best" bows. Mathews, Hoyt and everyone else has to pay royalties to PSE for the technology.

This is my first year bowhunting and I went to the local shop (The Bow Shop) in Gulfport, Mississippi and shot a few bows. I ended up buying the PSE Triton. It felt better shooting in my hand. The others felt like it was too much work and all the technology I wasn't comfortable with. The guys there were great and the key is to get a good knowledgable person to help you choose. Do not let them talk you into buying something they think is good for you. Only you know what is good and comfortable for you.
