For tough work I like the Gerber tool or one of them anyway. I have the Super Leatherman as well as the newest and the older Gerber. Also the Schrade. I keep comming back to the original Leatherman for one reason and one reason only. Its about half the weight of the other tools. It won't work as hard but for hunting and fishing I carry the leatherman. I also always carry the Explorer Swiss Army Knife. ALWAYS.

Get the leatherman Wave. Easy access blades (no opening first) and a 1st rate tool.

Both are fine tools, but I prefer the Leatherman Crunch because its pliers "lock" similiar to Vise Grips.

I have a couple of the regular Leatherman's. What I've used them they have worked well. Some years back I bought a Gerber. First time cutting a piece of wire it damaged the cutter section.I returned it back to the store and haven't touched one since..I'm sure all of the multi tools are decent, just having a bad experience with the Gerber has soured me with them.
