Default Rangefinders... What's a good one?

I am looking at the Nikon 800Monarch. What brands have you all tried out or had experiences with?

Get a lecia, best by far. If your going to take one hunting you need to be able to depend on it. The other ones just don't have the quality of the lecia, except the swarovski, but that is a big price jump.

I'm also in the market for a rangefinder and after looking at many, I've narrowed it down between the Nikon and the Leica. I'm leaning towards the Leica because of the red read out which is very bright. It also seemed to pick up small targets easier. I also think the clearity and ease of use is better on the Leica. The only down side is it is only water resistant not water proof. For that reason, I'm holding out and not buying until I can determine if people have had any problems because of it not being water proof. If I find anything else I'll let you know.

My leica 1200 has been exposed to snow and rain with no ill effects.I prefer the leica over the bushnell 800 that I owned previously.

I had a Leica and my wife got me some Geovids. I was very happy with the Leica, the Geovids are nice because I now carry one less thing. I do know people who use the Leica rangefinger (7x) as a binnocular too.

I've used the Nikon 800 for several years now and am VERY happy with it. It has added filters for heavy rain etc and has functioned flawlessly. You won't be disappointed and nobody will be more impressed if you spend more money on a more expensive unit.

Lieca are the best IMO little bit more $ but simple to range with pretty durable in the elements.

I love my Leica Geovids but you have to pay for the best.
