Default Rangefinder assistance, recommendations

This one is for you western hunters, not the bow hunters (no offense, I'm one too).
What rangefinder do you guys recommend for open country hunting (antelope, mulies) and in broken timber for elk?
Can use some seasoned advice here. Thanks in advance.

I have owned the bushnell 800 and now own the leica 1200 which I much prefer. The red led's are easier to read in low light and the narrower beam helps avoid error readings from unintended objects.

I had the Leica 1200 - great rangefinder. My wife got me some Leica Geovid binnoculars, so I've stopped using the rangefinger. One less thing to carry.

I looked at all the range finders at Gander Mountain, and stopped after looking at the leica. The others looked like someone pissed between the lenses.

Go with a bushnell 800, there somewhat cheap and won't break your bank for the limited time you use it.

I dont know how often this happens. But I own a Bushnell compact 600 rangefinder. The pair broke in 2 years. I contacted Bushnell they said they could not fix them because they dont have the parts for it. They offered me another pair for full price! I dont think so I am now a Nikon man! That was my experience with Bushnell it wont happen again.

I have the Leica 900 model and find it to be excellent for long range and under low light conditions with the LED display. It also has the scan mode and is great for checking distance on different objects without releasing the button.

I like my Wind River rangefinder/binoculars. That way I don't have to juggle separate units.

I have the lecia 900, a great hunting tool. Buy something cheaper and you will regret it. It's one of the things you have to be confident in it if you are going to take it afield.
