Default What Aluminum Gun Case

What gun case do you recommend for flying with two rifles, I've been told to buy a Kalispel but wanted to get some more input. Thanks!

If you have a BassPro shops near you check out their Redhead cases. They have a aluminum two scoped rifle case. It's alum w/ rubber mats on both sides. The one end has small wheels for easy transporting.Has a combination lock. They look like a fairly decent case for the money. They were 59.00 a couple years ago. I bought two of them

I second the BPS case. I got one last year and love it. Still about $60 too!

Kalispell,ICC,Americase or Tufpak would be ideal choices. The Basspro shop cases may look the same but that is really about it . I have an ICC that is 17 years old and still looks new.

OEH,I probably would have gotten better cases if I thought I would use them enough for air travel. For the little I would ever use them these will fit the ticket. Those better cases can get expensive. These Redhead's look plenty strong enough. I would add a latch and a padlock before using them on a airliner. I don't trust the 4 digit combo lock.Granted these Redhead's aren't the top of the line but I think the offer allot more protection then the cheap plastic cases.

RR a good example is the corners on my ICC case which are TIG welded plus the full length rod that runs thru the hinges and locks with a padlock. For all around use and not flying too much the regular Basspro shop aluminum would be ok but you never know when someone will run over the case with some aircraft loading/unloading machinery. Sadly I have seen guys unload their cases at airports on very expensive hunts with plastic cases.

The ICC case is really built to last. Don't go for the cheapest solution when selecting a gun case that the airlines will handle.

OEH, I've seen some of the cases you're talking about. Not sure who makes the ones I saw.The corners are TIG welded like you mentioned.Much better hinges.Yes they are a much stronger and nicer case.I can definately see investing that kind of money for a case like those if you are a frequent traveler.Mine for the most part will always be used in one of my trucks.Handled with care not like a airlines baggage handlers do.One day I might see one of these cases on sale and grab it.I never said the Redheads were the best. For the money they're decent enough.
