Default TOPO software

I decided it's time to buy some real topo software just to fool around with. What's everyone like or dislike and why?

Terrain Navigator pro is pretty cool. It can be used with most handhelds on the market. If you can read directions, it will take you about one week to get command of it - it's that easy to use.

I have DeLorme Topo USA. The thing I like most about it is the 3-D feature. You can have a split screen of the same area. One side shows the terrain in 3-D and the other side in 2-D. It really gives you are good perspective of the topography.

David, i use the maptech program: http://www.maptech.com states can be purchased seperately. this program allows me to download waypoints to maps from the gps unit. I normally set my gps to UTM and NAD 27 and i print out sections of maps using this same format, including grid squares. One of the best programs i have ever found to print out actual TOPO maps.

If you want to load it on a GPS then you're mapping programs are limited. If not then Delorme Topo's are the best I've used.
