Default Any suggestions on a bone saw

I'm looking for a small saw for packing to help quarter a moose or elk. There are many saws on the market. Anyone have good or bad things to say about saws they have tried?

I have the Browning folding game and camp saw. I"™ve had it for a number of years and it"™s works real well on deer but have never used it on moose or elk. It also works well for clearing up bush around tree stands. They also sell extra blades if required.

Second that, those folding hand saws are sharp and don't take up much room.

Frosty for the likes of moose or elk -Butcher meat/hand saw. Folding saws are a great tool but for these bigger animals they aren't the best choice. Butchers meat/hand saw looks like a hack saw but with a different blade, just like a hack saw the blades are replacable and it works quite well. I use one when deboning isn't an option or I have also used a chainsaw with vegetable oil when limited hands on deck are available.

I'll try to attach an image of Butcher Meat/Hand Saw.

I use a Gerber folding saw with inter-changeable blades. I have used it on 5 elk, 7 mule deer and 2 whitetail (not all mine) over the last three years and the blades are still sharp. Make sure you sterilize the blades after each use.

Most all the guys in our camp carry the 'Wyoming Saw'. We used them on Elk and Deer both and they've performed super. They're compact and light as well.

Highpower:

I think I have seen the Wyoming Saw sold in two different sizes -- 11" and 14" saw. What size did you prefer? I have heard others recommend the Wyoming Saw before you.

Alsatian, Only 1 guy on our team has the 'long' version. It's sort of neat because you can wear it like a belt. The rest of us have the shorter version which you can wear ON your belt or in your pack. Both seem to work equally as well. Normally when elk hunting, I wear a day pack that has a padded hip belt as well as a belt with a sidearm, so for me, I don't want or need another belt to hook up. I carry my saw in my daypack and it works great. Hope that helps.
