Default Honda 4 wheeler

Just bought my first 4 wheeler and have some probably stupid questions. First do I need to use Honda oil? How often should I be changing oil and air filters? I'll probably have some more questions in a while. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Honda oil is known to be a great oil. I change my oil every 300 miles just because I ride in water and mud. You don't have to change the oil filter every time just every other. Air filter cleaning will be dictated by where you ride and how much dust. If it's a foam filter just wash it in dish soap and when dry coat it with a foam filter oil. I don't own a honda so I'm not sure if it has a foam or a paper filter. I do recommend you buy a aftermarket air filter the stock on are not that great. I have had good luck with Twinair air filters.

I change the oil in both my honda and kawasaki seasonal . in the spring and in the fall.
My honda foreman over 3500 miles and has always had castrol in it. my kawasaki has many many more miles than that and has also only seen castrol.

air filter cleaning is based on condition and replacement is also based on condition.

I have a honda rubicon and if the machine is new, you should change the oil around the first 200 miles. After that, every 3-400 should suffice. I use the honda oil myself, just because I feel safer in doing so. Good choice on the quad!

first off, you need to check your owner's manual and make sure you are using the right weight and viscocity that is recomended. it will be something like 10w-30. i would change the oil with the seasons as mentioned before. spring and fall. changing it after every 5 gas tanks will get pretty costly and is not needed. if you ride for any amount of time, you will be changing oil twice a week and it will get pretty costly. you can use up a full tank of gas after a full day of riding.
