Default beginner gun

i just bought my kid a model 710 in 270 caliber hes 13 years old and we go to the range with it he loves it

If it's accurate, what more could you want?
I have friends who shoot 270 for deer and elk. It's a good round when loaded properly.

A .270 will do very little less than the .30-06. Manily it won't kick him as bad. I know guys who have taken everything from yotes to moose up here in maine and they aint no small animal.
