Need some advice.
Hello. I don't care about hunting. But I want to get my dad something kickass for Christmas. So, help me out here. What's the holy grail of hunting? He hunts (elk mostly), fishes, fly fishes, snowboards, ATVs, you name it. Give me a hand. Sorry to invade your forums, but I don't know the first thing about hunting and he's a great dad and I want to get him a gift he deserves. He got me tickets to Hamilton for my birthday, I need something AWESOME.
Keep in mind I'm a 16 year old with no job & the budget of a 16 year old with no job.
Much obliged.

Since you have no money about all you have to give is you. Why don't you give him a card offering to accompany him on the next hunting trip of fishing trip he goes on. I am sure he would enjoy that and you may even learn something about the "old man" you never knew..

Oldtimr's suggestion is excellent!! I like calendars with those pictures that change every month. I have seen some great ones with outdoor scenes, sometimes hunting scenes, etc. They are given away free by businesses like banks, insurance offices, pharmacies, etc. I am sure that they would give you one if you told them what it was for.

hey Hamilton boy..lol..you're not invading nothing ..we are all good guys. anyway.. the thing about what you're asking is , if and when you give him something hunting, fishing related , he may feel obligated to use it and really have a reason not to have it already.. I think OT (above) might be on to something..you may find out why you're dad does what he does

well this is an almost impossible question to answer, as we have NO idea on what he already has?
and with no real budget, the best advice is maybe what was given in the first reply
try giving your TIME to him.
help him maybe finish up a project or two without him having to ask you for the help
stick about for a weekend when he's busy
as for going hunting with him, that I think can be both great and BAD, and I say it like that due to, if you have ZERO interest in hunting and he's a BIG time hunter, all your going to maybe do is get his hopes up that your FINALLY interested in learning, when in fact your NOT, thus the bad side of it!
Maybe wake up early and wash and wax his truck(if he has one) or detail it as a surprise! might be a good idea as well! shows you invested time and helped him take care of something he uses and can ONLY help make it last longer!
