"How amateurs still fall out of tree stands"
On the now defunct Warren & Sweat tree stands, I have some info. The bolts and such can be obtained at a good hardware store. Check on the better bolts. Should be grade 5 or grade 8 bolts, the last I checked. Get the best of nuts to secure them. I'd replace every one (four).
Pipe insulation from a hardware department was used to cover the metal, where the arms were placed. The company made nice zippers on the cloth covering of the seat and back. (if furnished) On those you could get foam from a fabric center and make a new seat and backing.
Make sure the small rope is used to attach the two pieces together.
Inspect the stand very closely; metal and fabric. You never know where the stand hung or how long it was out in the weather.
After inspection, I'd give it a good tryout from four feet on a tree.
Oh, many of the Warren & Sweat's had weight limits of 250 lbs. People were a little lighter then.
