homemade survival kit
All you need is a altoid tin, toliet paper, pocket knife, and a lighter (or matches) And any thing else you can fit in it. And you got yourself a survival kit that can fit in your pocket.

I always put a heavy duty zip lock in my pack with a lighter, spare compass, spare mini mag lite, space blanket, dry socks, spare batteries for the GPS and a few other items that might be needed like aspirin and bandades.

I live in Colorado so mine has strike anywhere matches, mini compass, emergency blanket,(they work GREAT) magnesium fire starter,Tylenol, pocket knife,Minnie mag light, and a cheap plastic poncho all in a water bottle in my pack.

if anybody needs a quick fire starter you can make one from something your dryer produces everytime you dry you clothes and also something that is usually throw away from the bathroom.
all you have to do is take the toilet paper roll from the finished toilet paper and stuff it full of dryer lint and you have your homemade fire starter.

im with hit man on the lint idea do not leave the house when heading to the woods or out on a hunt with out stopping in our laundry room to raid the dryer first. also do the altoids box but like to though it in a zip-loc just for a little more peace of mine of staying dry.
