Need a new climber

Hello guys i have another question my wife used a friend of mines climber and now she wants one as do I. i was thinking of getting me the ol man vision but the friend of mine who hjas been hunting prob 40yrs said the only problem he has with the ol man was the cable in the back and not the metal bar. So does climber company still use the metal bar (the one that goes around the tree) any help or suggestions would be great.

I have never used a Ol man climber.I used a Treelounge for years and now I wouldn't give 50.00 for a new one. We found a climber called the Gunslinger. You face the tree but that gives you allot of advantages as far as cover, using the tree for a rest. I didn't think I would like it but it's great.It's easy to stand up and use the back rail on the seat for a shooting rest. I have two of them and a buddy has one of them We swear by them.I just looked at their site the other night. They've gone up since we bought them.I've had my first one for about 8 years or so.They used to run a sale and still might after the seasons end. They are very easy to climb and come back down. I highly recommend them. They have another model for bow hunting. It's called the Combow.I didn't care for it the one I sat in. It was a bit tight for me. They have one rated for 250 pounds and one for us full figured guys 350 rated.

That stand looks mighty comfortable Ruger. I use a Summit 180, which you can hunt with facing or with your back to the tree. I prefer to sit facing the tree as I feel the tree helps hide me and I feel a little more safe with the tree in front of me. The weight is 21 pounds and holds the tree extremely well while clinbing. The sling seat is also very comfortable.

Yeah they are very comfortable. When I was using the Treelounge my knees would hurt for days after. I guess it's from sitting in the same position for all those hours.I can sit in the GS and be comfortable all day. The only thing I didn't like about the GS and that may have changed by now.They come unpainted. My wife only started hunting a few years ago. The first time I took her to try the GS she went up and down the tree like she'd been doing it for years. Very easy compared to the Treelounge.I've taken allot of deer out of these GS's.

Yeah I noticed right off that there was no paint on the stand. I have never had much luck at painting aluminum as I had trouble getting it to stick to the surface. The Krylon Fusion is the best that I have used so far.

Years ago I used Etching primer. If you can still buy it with the EPA Regulations I don't know. On these GS's I lightly sand blasted them,wiped them down with vinegar,sprayed them with a red primer and then my camo Krylon camo paint.It hasn't peeled any ,but from use there's paint missing.It was time consuming but worth the trouble. They could use a touch up.

I just got the stretch diad jacket and I am pretty stoked about it.I hiked for four hours in the rain last saturday and stayed bone dry. It's super light weight, cut well to accomadate a harness, and has a nice stretch to it for climbing and all around mobility. Its the same price as the ciradian. That's my two cents. Happy Trails!

Second the Viper. Don't be afraid of the cables, they make the stand lighter easier to handle, and alot quieter. The old metal boomerangs are a pain in the a$$$
