Default Summit Hang on stands.

Figured I'd post this here since it gets more attention. I feel like I am missing out on some good hunting spots b/c I cant get my climber in their. Does the hang on stand really shine here or would I be wasting my money. Keep in mind I hate hunting on the ground. I dont much care for the price of the Lone Wolf stands, but I do like their 350 PD weight limit. I really like the Talon bracket on the Summit and I have nothing but good things to say about my Summit climber. Any suggestions, will my 265-270 pounds be ok in this 300 pound limit stand, may sound silly but I would prefer overkill in a situaion like this. Thanks Any reviews on the talon bracket stands in general would be helpful.

Default Hang-On Treestand delimma

Check out the Hang-On Buddy, www.hangonbuddy.com. It's the first and only universal treestand mounting sysstem that works with a wide variety of treestands. We developed it to help you hang your stand safer and easier. The nice part is you don't have to be confined to only a select few manufactures, our system will work with a bunch of the stands on the market. The universal mounting system works with both single and dual backbone treestands, and no alteration to the treestand is necessary. Our mounting base is light weight, stable and easy to hang. We are new on the market, and make a great addition to any treestand. Once you hang one up, you'll be hooked. Check us out at www.hangonbuddy.com
I hope we can help.

265-270? is that in full hunting gear+gun/bow? Wear a Harness...That's pushing it, IMO..I'm 220 and I worry about weight limits on some of these stands. I'm sure the 300 lb. limit is on the low/safe side for liability reasons. Should be OK. I like my Summit Climber as well, never tried the Summit Hang on yet.

I understand your dilema. I too use a summit stand and believe it to be my single greatest asset to my hunting success. I however, do agree that there are times I just can't find the right tree in the area I want to be. I hunt different locals with others where we do have a few fixed stands set but I always find myself going back to the summit. Good luck!

I would be shocked any modern climber, lock on, ladder or tri-pod .... regardless of maker, is not significantly over engineered when it comes to a "weight rating". It is a liability thing!

None of these companies are going to build a 300# rated stand that blows up at 325-350#! That would be beyond stupid !! I'd be willing to wager that actual "break" rating would be more like 3X the published rating.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Default Me TOO !

Just registered with this site looking for some stuff to buy. Spend most of my time on AT, but like this site too . . . now that I found it !

Regarding the SUMMIT.

When I returned to bowhunting (this year) after working everyday for 30+ years, I was very concerned about safety.

At 57, overweight, out of shape, 278lbs, I knew I needed to get into shape and get a very good treestand.

Did a BUNCH of research and after reading many, many reviews on several sites from fellow hunters, I settled on the SUMMIT TITAN. Summit stands are amazing.

I have never been concerned about the Summit stand. Agree with the guy above . . . I believe SUMMIT STANDS will hold 400 lbs + with no problem.

Default Safety Tip

Top section always shakey. Learned from fellow archer online.

I use a ratchet strap to secure the top section, it is solid as a rock. I even can sit on my rail to shoot behind the tree.

By the way, I adjusted to a better diet, walking each nite, huntin' and such, my weight is now 252 and being in shape helps alot !

IMO . . . You are more than safe in a SUMMIT, with the top section secured firmly.
