Default ATV hours/mileage? help....?

Considering buying an atv....its a 2000 Honda foreman 450, I believe it has 6000 miles the guy said.

That sounded like a ton! to me, just wondering if that's alot, avg? not that much?

Thanks.

I know there are a lot of Honda's running around with more miles than that on them. Depending on the price it could be a goodbuy if it is in good shape and has been maintained well. Problem is if you do not know theownerand or previous owners, you really do not know how it's been cared for. Just to give you an example, I have a 99 Polaris Xplorer with 570 miles(around 130 hours) on it.

I have a 2003 rincon with about 3000 miles on it and it is still one heck of a good bike, I have just used it on a very large ranch for many years, I would put about 250 miles a week on it when I was there(nothing that would hurt the bike, just a long ways to get where I was going on gravel roads)...Like the poster said before me, it depends on the shape of the bike and how it was maintained....

6000 miles is alot. If you can get it real cheap and it checks out good, tires, brakes, motor, etc. get it other wise I'd keep looking, ther are a bunch out there for sale. Good Luck

Being a Honda technician, The Foreman 450S/ES is probably one of the best bikes Honda made. That is a lot of miles, but has the motor ever been rebuilt? It more than likely has by now. Depending on the price, it might be worth checking out. Listen for any knocking or tapping going on in the motor and check it for smoking. You could probably get a good idea of how it was cared for by just looking at it. There is plenty of good deals out there if you look. Unless it's pretty cheap, I would probably look around some more.

I once seen a Polaris with 14k on it. Hard to believe forPolaris but it did. If that 4 wheeler looks and tests good and the price is right it may be ok. I have a 95 Kawie 400 with probably 4000+ on it and its still like new...but some folks just have no respect for their stuff and it may look good and be junk..lol. Its just hard to tell with that kind of mileage.
