Default Spotting scope advice please.

Looking to purchase a reasonably priced spotting scope and would love to hear thoughts on different brands/models. BSA's can be had for as cheap as $49 and Alpen and others go up towards $175 or so. Cheaper the better but don't mind paying for the Alpen price rangefor the quality and package (tripod, window mount, etc.)High priced scopes are out of the equation. All thoughts are appreciated.

This will be used out the truck window spotting deer to 1/2 mile or out the kitchen window a little further. Also, at the bench occasionaly while sighting in.

I'd avoid the BSA's like the plague. Don't know anything about the Alpens. Perhaps a Bushnell, Burris or a mid-range Nikon might be your ticket to success.

I won't try to sell you on a swaro, but the Nikon spotterXL is a pretty decent scope for the $250 it commands these days. that is for the kit that comes with a decent tripod case ect.

I have a Burris Landmark and I'm very happy with it (I think I got it for just under $200). I don't knowit performs in a field setting.......as I only use it at the range. It's fine at 200-250 yards.
