After much deliberation I finally decided on a new hunting tent, Cabela's outback lodge (10x10). Yes price is/was a consideration here, my main goal was to get my 40yr. old + butt into something I can walk through the door & stand up in. I've been using a 10yr. old REI Trail Dome that still has yet to let me down or leak, but the queen size air mattress takes up all the room & I can only kneel down after crawling through the door, I'm old, too old for that stuff, after a week or so it gets to ya.
The tent arrived yesterday, I unpacked & set it up in the back yard for some seam sealing as directed. This is my first tent w/o a rain fly, so in doing my homework on the waterproof coatings I find that 1,500mm polyurethane waterproofing seems to be the best compromise between thickness & temprature ductility & longevity as per the net anyway. As for the seam sealing, this tent has some of the best sealed seams I have seen, yes I went over them anyway, waking up wet pisses me off, it's been a spell but it's justsomethingI remember from my white stag tent days .
Set up is one man easy, I installed the floor liner & left it in. Did I say that I can stand up in this thing
Soooooo happy. Was kinda skeptical of the overall integrity in high winds, no worry, the guy lines make this pretty dang skookum. Surprise !!!!! it actually fit back into the duffel bag it came in. The stakes will need to be upgraded, bent a few pretty good. Colemans has some good one's for a decent price. Will be heading over to Sylvanite Montana Oct. 20th. for a week or so, so I'll keep ya up to date on any issues that might surface, hopefully this will be one of my better purchases.
