I have a 94 Suzuki KindQuad 300 love it...the fact that I can choose which to use, 2 wheel-high or low, 4 wheel-high or low & with the tranny totally locked up for bull low...it has been a very relialbe machine with few problems...I use it for hunting, ice fishing & riding for fun...just my .02 cents worth....Brampton Mike

A 300 is lighter, which is nice if you stick it. The 400 has more power, which is nice when moose/elk hunting, etc. I have a 400 Polaris Sportsman now, been good, except the starter is located on the bottom of the undercarraige and sometimes the seal will break and take on H20...making for burn out. They ain't cheap either. Other than that I love it, it easy to drive and has done the job.

Personally I would recommend a Honda, I had a 300 fourtrax and it was awesome, but a little lacking in power for the big stuff. I would look at the Honda in a 400. If your planning on moose hunting or hunt near bogs...put a good warn winch on it. If deer and hard terrain, you'll be ok without the winch.

We have two Artic Cat 400 4x4's .They both have winches if you get stuck so the weight isn't a factor ,plenty of power and so far never a problem with them .We also looked at Hondas but the Artic Cat dealer offered a better deal .

I bought a new Yamaha Big Bear 350 in 98. I looked at everything and at the time the Big Bear was the best deal for the dollar. It's full time 4X4 which is no fun if you want to play but it will go anywhere and has plenty of power. It is kind of big and is hard to get through thick woods but most of the 300's and 400's are big now. Never had a problem in 4 years and the only part I've ever replaced was the spark plug which was this weekend. A buddy has an old Suzuki 250 Quad runner and it's a beast. It's 2WD but will almost go anywhere mine will. He's put it through pure hell and it's still going.

Ill second the Kingquad, it does everything I could ask of it. It carried myself (190lbs)and two buddies (210lbs and 350lbs) up the steepest hill around our camp in WV.

I think that the Honda Rancher Es is the best becuase it has a low end speed for pulling and it is still fast for those jobs that need to be done right a way.

I bought a brand new Yamaha Big Bear in 99, I love it, it has never let me down. It is full time 4 wheel drive and does not have a lot of top end speed, but for hunting it is great, it will definately get you where you want to go. All I have had to do is replace the battery.
Personally I would go with Yamaha or Honda. Just my .02 cents worth.

I have a 95 honda fourtrax 300 and have never had any problems plus it is quiet. I have ridden straight up big wooded hills and taken a whole elk out in pieces with me riding on top of the ribs. Power is not a problem and I am a big boy.
