Default Camo colors, variations and attributions

I have chosen Real tree hardwoods Max-4 for a color, it suits my area perfectly. However, last night I took off my coat and laid it in the brush so I could step back and see what it looks like.
The idea is perfect, Max-4 is corn, oak tree, reeds.. And as you can see from the following picture it is exactly matched to where I will use it, but oddly the camo seems much brighter than the actual ground.. Besides rolling in the dirt is there a quick fix to make this particular blend a bit darker?

Wash it a few times in the hot cycle and it should fade the coloring enough to match better.

That is definitely something to keep in mind. I would read the label/washing instructions and check to see if it indicates anything about damage due to washing in hot cycle.

Washing does effect both the insulation and waterproofing material. Also they should never be washed in other than cold water for the above and the camo pattern longevity. You should use a sport wash vs regular detergent for washing/cleaning outer garments. It is concentrated so make sure not to over use the product. Though I am sure you were just going to throw in the washing machinewithout soap to try and tone down the jacket, FYI for the future. Sport wash can be bought at most sporting good or outer wear retailers. I am not talking about the stuff they market to hunters but rather stuff they sell for outer wear garments of all types.

As far as the brightness and not a perfect match I don't believe in blending being the only or the most effective way to conceal a human from game eyes. For my perspective break up of your silhoutte is far more important to concealment, eliminating the blob appearance. Max 4 of all the realtree patterns is effective at break up, the background is close to natural that you will not appear out of the ordinary. Their vision is not like humans, they see different spectrums of colours and shades, as long as they don't see a solid block they should paylittle attention to the unmoving object.
In rifle season we have to wear solid colours here and I have had no trouble getting game close then vs the use of camo, the main reason is attention to detail when picking your ambush spot. Backing is extremely important, not skylighting yourself by fiunding natural depression to sink into the landscape and of course gross movements. Sorrythe long wayto say enjoy your new jacket.

That will just make things worse, the camo will loose its ability to blend how its suppose to, how it was made to work, avoid fading at all cost! Just remember threadstarter, you set that coat down and backed up knowing exactly where it was, and what it looked like, and were actually looking for it. It will be totally differnt for an unsuspecting victim.
