Default Meopta scopes

Can anyone tell me about these, are they quality scopes?
I am looking for good light gathering types before I pay for a Zeiss.
Thanks

Default RE: Meopta scopes

Meopta is made in Czech republic. About 4 years ago, outdoor life rated the 3-9x40 a best buy. All of hte meopta glass I have looked through was world calss optics. Back then you could get one for around 300 bcuks but they have gone up. The artemis 2000 are made of steel and the 3000 are made of aluminum. I think they have a new S1 series which is supposed to be the dog's bollocks.
BTW the Cabela's new Euro binoculars are made by Meopta
