Actually,I would go with the 3x9x40 conquest. With the higher quality lenses and coatings, you don't need a larger objective lens, and you can mount the 3x9x40 scope lower for better cheek position on the stock.Of course I am basing myopinion on thelegal hunting times where I hunt, which are from one half hour before sunrise,to one half hour after sunset.

I have 3 conquests - 2 3.5x10x44mm's and 3x9x40 mm. My partner picked up a 3x9x50mm this spring. I see no appreciable difference betweenthe models, in terms of optical performance. Re: objective size and mounting all 3 of mine are now mounted with warne maxima med rings and bases. If you go with Leupold you'll require high's for the 42 and up objective size. If you go with the 50mm you'll require high rings in most mounting systems.

Like Stubblejumper my legal hours are the same and have never had a problem. I can saythey preform very well in minimal light, many times legal time isn't a lot of light up here. I have no doubts they'll work outside the parameters, if this is a concern to you.

Jaime, I also am in AL and I also use a Conquest 3-9x40. It's a great scope and all I'll ever need. I noticed you quoted a price of 499.99. You can beat that price by about 100.00 by ordering on the internet. I got mine from Bear Basin Outfitters (bearbasin.com) for about $389 last fall. There are several other sites that have them for around $400. The only drawback is you have to mount it yourself or pay someone to do it. It's not a hard job if you have a few tools. I like patronizing local dealers but I can buy a lot of other stuff for my left over $100. Where are you in AL? I'm in Montgomery myself. Good luck JD

I picked up my Zeiss off of e-Bay and saved big $$'s. Here is a site that sell's direct and the prices are great also...

Both good scopes! But keep in mind, alot of the experts don't carnk thier scopes up to full power on shot that close. I usually keep my scope on about 6 and leave it there. You may get a bit more shooting time with the 50 mm scope. Esp if you don't crank it up to 9

I Agree with Stubble...3x9x40....is the best choice....
Won't make a diff if you hunt legal hours...
If all your shooting is out to 200yrds and closer, you'll find it quickerto fix your crosshairs on your target at close range as well.........
