Default block 4x4 question

I know they say you can shoot broadheads at the block 4x4, but is it good for the target? Figured they would tear it up quick just like any other target. Didn't want to waste a $100 target in one year.

believe it or not, these target are worth the damn $100 they are getting for them... they cheaper targets wear rather fast compared to the block. i think it is because they are wrapped tighter than the rest of them. check it out at the store. you can open up the layers on the rest of the brands, but the block is really tight which helps keep it together.

Eventually they all start splintering.I use a cheap open layered foam target from Dicks sporting goods. It'not really thick and the BH's stickout the back after the shot. I unscrew them, pull out the shaft. This avoids cutting the target in both directions. When the target is really worn and I start getting pass thru's I put a couple ratchet straps around the target and crank it down to compress the layers again, doubles the life of your target.

i purchased a block 4x4 and have fired over 80 bheads in a small area and its holding up well..

The purpose of the brownlayer over thefoam is to hold it together better thansimply just having foam to get chewed up.

mine is starting to wear but I have a therory, here it is; you can shoot bh and fp but don't shoot both at it the field points rip a small hole in the outer layer while the broadheads cut it and it joins back together pretty good. My goal is to destroy my 4x4 this year from practicing

Just a little advise I received from a friend that owned a bow shop. When the Block 4x4 target starts to wear, fill the inside with the expanding foam, take a a drywall knife and scrape the excess off to get a smooth surfuace, take a trashbag and put it over the target and lay a piece of plywood on top with some weight added to the top of it. When the foam tries to expand it will be compacted inside giving you further use out of the 4x4.

He used to use this technique on his block targets he used for the shop.

Hope this helps for the worn out 4x4's. Happy shooting!

The Block is a pretty good target and well worth the money but for a few dollars more you could get the GlenDel Buck , its made by the same company and it to is worth every cent.
My wife got one for me when they first came out and I've been shooting the heck out of it.
I had to replace the core once already but I practice shooting 3 days a week so it takes alot of shooting to wear it out.
