Ford F-150

I have an '02 expedition XLT that i bought when i turned 16. It's black and its very nice but i dont want to have to haul around a trailer for the ATV my dad just purchased. I am looking at 2001 F-150 supercrews (the 4 door ones) and i was just wondering if anyone has one and how they like them? and if you have every been muddin in them any of that input is also helpful as i enjoy mudding too. thanks anyone and everyone.

I love my '98 regular cab 4x4 F150. I have the standard transmission, which i prefer to automatic, and the 4.2L V6. I was told that I could get over 20mpg, but I only get around 18, so I sorta wish I had the V8 instead, but oh well. As for mudding, just make sure you get meaty tires. Not many people do that here so I'm not quite sure what makes a good muddin' truck, but I have had mine in maybe 1-2 feet of mud before and it did fine, even with my less agressive tires. I don't think there are many differences between the '98s and '01's, so hopefully this info helps.

Hi AA,

I'm on my second newer F-150. The first was an '01 SCREW (Super Crew) 4X4 Lariet. I loved it! Came with factory posi, 17" rims, strong V8, power this, leather that .... The bed is small, if you can get a quad into it, that's about all that's going there. The SCREW should handle almost exactly the same as your Expidition - Same wheelbase, everything is in the same place, etc.

I now have an '02 F-150 Ext Cab (Suicide doors) 4X4 Lariet - It is mostly the same, but the bed is big enough to sleep in. I havea shell on it and it's nice to have a more secure camp when I'm solo. No posi, though (found out the hard way!

But thank you Flix, i am looking at an 02 supercrew lariat 4x4 right now thats down the street for sell it has 79000 miles and they want 15,000 for it so i think i might wait and get one with a few more miles so its cheaper. But i am for sure going to get a Supercrew and ill probably lift it 2 or 3 inches

if you dont tow a lot, i would really recommend getting a ranger. i have a 96 STX 4x4 that does everything i ask of it, has limited slip rear, has a useable sized bed, and gets 18-19 mpg in mixed city/hwy driving. throw some MT tires on it, and you should be able to go most anywhere you need, with the exception of some harder, more technical trails. also, the ranger is much easier to maneuver in tight spots, whether it be a parking lot or the woods

Rangers are definately nice trucks too, and they will go a lot of places, but if you're closterphobic, steer clear! I drove a '97 4x4 at work all the time, and it drove me nuts being squished up against the steering wheel.
