Stopped by the local Bass Pro / Outdoor World the other day to look around. While checking out some spotting scopes the sales rep was pushing me hard to buy a new combo they had. I wasn't interested but looked anyway. It was a Leupold and was a rangefinding binoc along with a spotting scope. Price was $500 something I believe. Anyway, I think it was their green ring stuff they call Sequoia or Wind River. Well, I picked up the binocs to look through and guess what I saw. Made in China. Holy crap Batman. Guess even Leupold has caved in to the pressure. What a disappointment!

Went to Bass Pro in Orlando,FL and bought a Buck Lock Blade and when I sat at home to look it over, in tiny print, it said made in China. The following Saturday I went back and returned it!Now I'm looking at everythingbefore I buy it!

I was speaking with a Delphi executive a few months ago about their two plants in China. They pay $.39 and $.69 an hour in the different plants. You will see more and more companies moving operations there to be competative. Although a few companies have not been successful over there and are moving back to US.
If you shop at WalMart, you buy stuff that is made in China from clothing toelectronics to furniture to just about anything else. If you do start reading the labels on everything you might be surprised.
ALL of Leupold's glass comes from the Philipines, yes even the glass in the VXIIIs and MK4s!!!
Slooooooooooooowly this "Made in China" crap is coming full circle. After enough people are out of a job and wondering "WTF?" maybe just maybe they will wake up and realize you gotta pay to play and keep the dollars home!!
Course, just look in the WallyChinamart parkin lot and you might just give up on that notion!

Moving jobs overseas doesn't always work. Cheap labor doesn't always make cost efficient labor. After NAFTA was signed, a few manufacturers moved back here because the cheaper labor did not have the quality and productivity of American labor. They had plants in Mexico because of Mexican tariffs, and they moved back soon after NAFTA was signed.
Look at the current automakers. Foreign brands are increasing production here and domestic brands are moving production overseas. Then look who's growing and look who's struggling. Also look who has the highest quality ratings. Still think American workers are a disadvantage?
I've noticed the national news media almost always reports on companies moving overseas and laying off workers over here. Last year, America added 2 million jobs and that was a slow year. But watching FOX news or CNN a person would never know who is adding them or where they've been added, because they are never mentioned. It must be a lot more fun to blame politicians for job losses than it is to give credit for job gains.

Get used to it. Most anything made in the US anymore is too expensive because of "GREED" therefore we must send it over to the China, Korea and Bum F-Egypt. I hate to admit it but most (not everything) made in our good ole USA anymoreis junk.
