Default Best electronic hearing protection?

I just don't like discharging a handgun without hearing protection. I shot my DW 8in .357 without protection once and it really hurt. Ever since then I hunt with electronic muffs. I will be hunting with a T/C Encore in 7mm-08 and .223 this year. ]

I use a pair of Bonner Mega Ears for range use and handgun hunting. While I love the sound amplification there is a very strong hissing that accompanies it. What pair of muffs will get rid of the blasted hissing? I am looking for as clean a sound reproduction as I can get.

Thanks,
Chuck

Walkers Digital ITC

The price shown is for a single side unit. Please add $399.95 to the price shown for the pair of Walkers Digital ITC.

I've got the walker's quad muffs and there is no hissing at all with them or none that I've noticed anyway. I saw in the cabela's book that they now have digital muffs and I think they are a little cheaper (price) than the digital ITC Rebel Hog is telling you about. If I had the money I would have went with the ITC (in the canal) instead of the muffs because the muffs get a little hot as I'm sure you already know.

I got over $600.00's worth of Walker's Game Ear 2's that don't work. This is the second time I've had 3 go on the blink. I just called them and asked if they would fix one if I gave them the other two and the woman replied.."No, I'm sorry, we don't have the two for one sale." Evidently she thinks two of their own products are worthless too.

I use Peltor Tac Pro..Both for Work and Shooting..
They work very well.Great for reducingany noise level above 80dcb
and the volume control is great..
Another Plus..NOT MADE IN CHINA.[:'(]
While never hunted with them I have walked in the bush while wearing them just to check them out..
Its amazing how much the noiseis amplifiedthrough these muffsas you walk through the bush...Yeah they pick up wind sound but thats expectedbut they also let one know if you can be a little quieter..

Default RE: Best electronic hearing protection?

Interestingly enough I think that I solved my problem. My father passed away a few years ago and I grabbed his hearing aids. I tried using them the other day at the range and they work quite well. After some careful testing it appears that they have the high decibel cut off circuitry. Actually they were about $800-$1000 I think so I would assume that they had this circuitry in them anyway. Even using them in my ears with no amplification they worked almost as well as a good pair of muffs.
I assume that the inside the ear models are pretty much hearing aids anyway. Does anyone have any more detailed info on using hearing aids for this function?
