Default Scope for a .22

I'm getting a .22 after deer season becase the squirrels are overpopulated and drive me nucking futs when I'm on the stand. What kind of scope to I need? I seen in Cabela's Master Catalog some scopes are listed as Rifle and some as rimfire. Do you have to get a rimfire scope for a .22? What are some of the popular scope powers for .22? Anything else I should know??? Also, I'm planning on getting a ruger 10/22 model, if that helps.

Apple. I have been using a weaver classic variable 2-7x28. I paid about 100 bucks but I think they are a bit more. I am very happy with it. Optics are clear and quite good and it is parallax adjusted for .22 ranges. And made in ***an. Also Leupold makes an excellent one in (I think) 2-7x28) but it is around 275 bucks. Nothin wrong with spending that much on a scope but some of us can't. for a good cheap one, look at the Tasco (now owned by Bushnell) Mag 22 riflescopes. There is a 4x32 (27.00) and a 3-9x32 (35.00). Not a bad Chinese scope for the money. Simmons has one too but the model and price escapes me. Should be about the same as the Tasco. My Weaver seemed to split the difference between the expensive leupold and the cheaper chinese scopes
If you are interetsed in high quality, I believe Kahles makes a very nice .22 scope in the 400 bucks range.
You can also use any regular scope IF! it has an adjustable objective so you can set the parallax for .22 ranges. I used to use a Leupold 4x fixed scope but Leopold had to set the range at 65 yards at the factory. I like my weaver much better.

I could only wish to have the squirrel problems that you're having , I've seen only a couple of tree rats lately .

Any good 4X scope will be fine for squirrels , don't get caught up in an arms race over them or you'll end up one of those pathetic jagoffs with a $500 rig just for them and no interior life . They're rodents , man ...

I would get a scope with a low power but with a 1"¯ tube. Personally I don"™t like the 22 scopes. They"™re to small. Good luck..

I have a Leupold VX-II 4-12x40mm on my Ruger 10-22. I have the target model with the stainless bull barrel, so I got the silver scope, and put a bipod on it. Its a pretty sweet shooting looker. I like it, and at 50 yards I can acquire and blast squirrel sized targets at blistering speed lol.
