Default Bushnell Customer Service Not Very Promising

I have an old Bushnell Sportview scope. It was a 4x12x40 with adjustable objectives. I bought the scope for about $70 new. I know it was a cheap scope but the information that came with it implied it had a lifetime warranty. Well to make a long story short the scope fogs and one of the crosshairs are broken. Bushnell required I send it in post payed and return post payed along with a $10 handling fee. I had 37$ in the return. I later find out that the only scopes that have a lifetime warranty are the Elites. The website is very misleading. I know you can return any cheapo Simmons scope and get a new one within weeks. I had them return the scope and I will toss it in the trash when I receive it. They did offer me a Banner for $70. Not much of a price cut so I refused. I am trying to inform as many people as possible about this because it will cost you close to $40 to find out and their information is misleading. Even the Legend model only has a one year warranty. Buyer Beware and no more Bushnells for me.
This is from their website and it is just not true.
In the past our products have had different lengths of warranty coverage. However, since 1984, the majority of our products carry a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Bushnell Performance Optics guarantees your product to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the original owner.

Thanks for the tip and sorry to hear you had such problems. The only optics company I have ever dealt with in terms of warranty issues was Nikon. They had a pair of binoculars back to me within three weeks at no cost other than the original shipping.

Good luck with your next scope.

The thing about Bushnell is they are very clear about the other things they sell concerning warranty. They list everything on their website but the scopes. The paper work you get with a Trophy, Legend, Banner, Sportsman model make you think they have a lifetime. A company like Bushnell should use ethical business practices and be straight forward. Simmons will replace a 12$ scope you found on the side of the road crushed flat. They stand behind all their products. I assumed Bushnell would do the same. Buyer beware I guess. Just remember the warranty when you buy any Bushnell scope other than an Elite. The Legend is an excellent scope with 91% light transmission and retails for around $169 but to only have a one year warranty is crazy in todays market. Bushnell will not tell you this, you have to find out the hard way like I did. Good hunting
