Does anyone know of a good breed of dog for treeing squirrels and is easy to train? Also, one that isn't going to set me back $900. Any info would be great.

Hi, there are several good breeds for squirrel hunting. Some of the better ones would include the Feist, Curr, or even a rat terrier. All are real go getters when it comes to squirrels. Good Luck!

Yes, I have this kind of breed and this is the West Siberian Laika. This is a naturally treeing breed. Besides treeing small game, Laika is good at hunting big game, if needed.
For information e-mail me aliska@ntelos.net or visit my website http://www.laikabreeds.multiservers.com/
I have puppies now.
Have you checked finnish spitz dogs? When our pups were presented with a dead squirrel they went insane trying to get hold of it. (Natural instints there) They were jumping like crazy and barking. Our older female treed 10 in just a matter of minutes when we first brought her home. Our male is just the same. Portable critters. Weighs about 22-30 pounds. Also great family dogs. They resemble foxes in appearance. Used also for birds. AKC registered.
