Default Lion Hunting

Has anyone hunted lions with only 2 dogs, is it enough? Has anyone ever heard of using Mtn Curs to chase mountain lions?

I think Mtn curs may be a little small from what I've seen. Looks like mostly what I've seen has been some of the larger coon hound type dogs.

Two dogs is more then adequate for lions. And yes, curs are used for lions. I am not familiar with mtn curs.

look in the temperament section on this page and the mountain cur is mentioned as a cat hunter. I don't know a whole hell of alot about the breed, but know they are great hunters. I think with anywhere between 2 and 5 dogs would be a good pack for cat hunting.

Here it is... It's just something on dogbreedinfo.com that came up when I googled Mountain cur.

http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/mountaincur.htm

If you google Mountain cur you will get alot of sites that will give you alot of information. Some I agree with, some I don't. None the less they are all valid viewpoints. Hope this helps.

Ussually only one or two dogs are used. Curs are used as long as they are loud mouthed. Sometimes a bunch of dogs will mess each other up running back and for over the tracks while triing to sort things out when cold trailing. You don't need a bunch of dogs for lions...they tree because ancestrially wolves used to tree them. Any lion could stop and kill any dog if it wasn't for the fact that they instinctively tree.
