The cheap scope proves to work during the day when the recital isn't lit. Once you turn on the light it goes WAY off.
I plan to take it back and get a good red dot. (or maybe just use laser)

Any specific products will be welcome suggestions as I am new to this.

@SSgtBaber: Depending on how much money do you want to spend! I have experience with Leupold, Zeiss and Swarovski. Zeiss and Swaro especially the Zeiss victory 2,5-10x50, 3-12x56 and the Swaro Z6i 2-12x56 and 3-18x50 are outstanding scopes, for me the best scopes in relation of brightness, depth of field, contrast, color fidelity and field of view! Leupold makes also good scopes, good enough for night hunting. Especially the VX-3 scopes are very good scopes, but in comparison to Zeiss and Swaro... The Leupold scopes don`t have as much exit pupil as the Germans and Austrians. Less eye relief and less field of view! All things which are pretty important for nighthunting. But, Zeiss and Swaro: as outstanding they are as expensive they are also! The Leupolds are very good scopes in relation to the price! Everything else is luxury but a funny luxury

Best regards and succesfull hunts from Germany
