In NY, all your need is a small game license, and you can take them.

One would think the NY DEC would encourage folks to kill those hogs. States with budding hog problems still refuse to take wild hogs seriously. The hunters in NY state should start killing every wild hog they see; within the law, of course.

There are two kinds of states; those where the wild hog population is out of control and those where the wild hog population will be out of control.

The hog population in OK is totally out of control. Still the OWDC will not allow us to hunt hogs with centerfire rifles in the WMAs outside of deer season. We are not allowed to hunt wild hogs at night with a light.

Here in OK hog hunting "ranches" are the big thing. They buy hogs and turn them loose in their high fenced areas; the hogs get out and multiply all over the place. The hogs here have drastically impacted the deer population. They run the deer off the wheat fields and out of the game plots. This has been a very dry and hot year in OK; we supplement the deer food with feeders; the hogs soon discover the feeders and the deer leave. Hogs eat most of the acorns and pecans. Wild hogs also kill fawns. Some big boar hogs have a taste for new born calves too. They chase the cow away and eat the baby.

It's still fashionable to turn domestic hogs loose in OK. This morning we had a 275 pound male hog in one of our traps. That old hog had been castrated and his tusks cut off when he was a young pig.

I'm an old man who hunts wild hogs 12 months of the year. In December of last year we started trapping hogs at our property in Garvin county. By May we had trapped and shot over 50 hogs on that place. We gave them to people who needed the meat. For about three months there were no hogs on that place. Then in September these showed up: Got to take a hog trap back to that place.
